Almost forgot ...

SARA FINISHED HER SHAWL!!!!!

Yes I'm yelling! I think it took her a million years to knit this thing and it looked like a lump of yarn while she was doing it. Plus, with the dogs dragging the thing around and me setting things on it while it was in progress ... well, it seemed it was a member of the family for a while.

Here it is ...

I'm also glad she's finished 'cause now I get more socks. Those needles NEVER stop clicking. But of couse the shawl is imperfect. she points out the imperfections in this crazy, winey voice. i nod a lot and can't see any imperfections. She's nuts. it's beautiful!

Do you see any mistakes. Of course not! I thought only machines made these things ... my sister and my daughter are machines!

YEA! for Sara! Now where do you wear a shawl these days?

Now what?

So, where's Angelina Jolie now? She and her Hollywood cohorts sure had a bunch to say about Sudan and it's Darfur region. Now the crazy Sudanese want to KILL a woman for naming a stuffed bear Mohammed.

And Jolie has this to say ....

Exactly. There is nothing to say.

I guess I am an isolationist. Culture is culture. You can't convince a person who was taught from birth that women are one step below livestock that killing one for a trivial reason is, well ... UNREASONABLE! Probably as much as you can't convince a child in America that eating at McDonalds every day is not a good idea.

Just like you can turn the TV off when something is offensive, you don't have to live amongst a culture that is odd or offensive to you. That woman they want executed is a teacher. There is no way she didn't know or understand the culture there ... Everyone has seen it on the news! I really don't want her executed, but I don't have a lot of sympathy for her. She knew it was a snake when she picked it up.

And as for turning the channel when something offensive is on TV (kenny vs. spenny). Sometimes it's like a train wreck and you just can't look away. American culture shocks me every day ... and I'm on the odd side of it! Weird.
