She and her Hollywood cohorts sure had a bunch to say about Sudan and it's Darfur region. Now the crazy Sudanese want to KILL a woman for naming a stuffed bear Mohammed.

And Jolie has this to say ....

Exactly. There is nothing to say.

I guess I am an isolationist. Culture is culture. You can't convince a person who was taught from birth that women are one step below livestock that killing one for a trivial reason is, well ... UNREASONABLE! Probably as much as you can't convince a child in America that eating at McDonalds every day is not a good idea.

Just like you can turn the TV off when something is offensive, you don't have to live amongst a culture that is odd or offensive to you. That woman they want executed is a teacher. There is no way she didn't know or understand the culture there ... Everyone has seen it on the news! I really don't want her executed, but I don't have a lot of sympathy for her. She knew it was a snake when she picked it up.

And as for turning the channel when something offensive is on TV (kenny vs. spenny). Sometimes it's like a train wreck and you just can't look away. American culture shocks me every day ... and I'm on the odd side of it! Weird.

I figured it out . . .

Sara said she never wants to havekids cause she'd kill 'em.

The truth .... kids are like farts. The were paid --- sometimes in the six-figure range --- to do their JOB. The producers took the gamble. The producers put the money out in the hopes of making more. Then when the show hits the internet or on a mobile device, somehow the writer is owed more? Where was his gamble? He got paid for pete's sake!

So, I give Joe $60 and ask him to put $50 on the number 6 horse in the third race. He's gonna be at the track anyway and I can't make it. He gets to keep $10 for doing me this JOB. Then the horse hits it big. Does Joe get a percentage of the winnings? NO! It wasn't in our contract and he didn't really take the gamble, did he? If the horse was a looser would he give me back $5 of what I paid him?

Hollywood lunacy! The writers are fools and theives. The producers are crazy.

The writers will win .... just like they did in the 80s.

One more dance ... but I'm sure not the last!

So, here's more dancing. I would rather be in a "home" than cared for by my family if this crappy disease progresses too far.

2. I'm bitter that there is not enough silence in my life.

3. I miss my C-cup bra ... but not the size 14 pants.

4. I never wanted to work ... hence no social security number or driver's license til 18 and had to be told by dad to get off my ass. I have not changed, but now I'm obligated.

5. I never wanted kids. I have no regrets in this area though.

6. I could watch TV 24-hours a day.

7. I love tattooing. Really LOVE it. I think I pretty good at it too.

8. I really don't know 8 people to tag. I think I only have 2 friends and only one blogs ... and she tagged me. Some want tight, others loose ... some can only wear black, others are very colorful ... and still others only PINK!

Anyway, this morning I hand monkey number 5 pants and a shirt to put on. He looked at the pants like I was crazy.

"You know these don't fit, mom."

"They do too. They are those adjustable ones we got at Old Navy. You like them." Four of the monkeys have a skinny hip issue that makes it rough to buy pants. Too bad that issue won't stick with them through adulthood. But I digress ...

"Fine. But I want you to roll them up."

"Whatever."

He dressed and came out for me to roll up his jeans. I put one roll in them so the cuff would be at the top of his feet.

Minutes later he's behind my chair rolling the jeans to above his knees.

"What are you doing?"

"I don't like them low."

"Well, let me fix them."

I rolled them up higher. Then higher. Then right at his knee. Why? I don't have a clue. He said he doesn't want them to touch his shoes. WHAT?

Then he comes back. "I told you these pants don't fit. Look they are falling down."

They weren't, but I told him to get his belt. I help him put the belt on and as I'm doing it ...

"Don't forget. I like it tight."

"Yeah, yeah. I know."

I put it at a comfortable spot for real humans. And two minutes later ...

"They are still to big, mom. Look, they're falling down."

"Let me tighten the belt." I pull it one hole tighter.

"No, mom, put it here," he says, pointing to the last hole. Right, like I can sinch it down like that. What's the boy want, a corsett?

"I can't put it there."

"You didn't try."

"The pants are fine."

"I don't prefer these pants."

Without laughing I close my eyes and say, "Go find a different pair of pants."

He put on the ones he wore yesterday. And the day before. And the day before that.

They are too short. He's happy.

"Now where are my tight shoes, mom?"

UGH.

Fat picture ...

Yes, that's my before picture. I look like a barrel. I was slowly losing my neck. So, I turned to LA Weight Loss ... so they could tell me to eat breakfast. It's been 19 weeks now. I have my girl body back. I went from 39-40-44 (tube) to 37-32-37 (girl). Shocking.

So Max took an "almost after" picture of me:

Jay tried too ...

They are a couple of Einsteins. It was just a take-down match, so there is no pinning and they restart a lot. I posted the movie on YouTube because it was so large and I think you all would have gotten mad if I e-mailed it to you. I'm selling the movie uncut on DVD for $10. The money will be used to buy wrestling shoes for the poor girl. She wants pink ones.

The link: Emily's movie

Doesn't she look exactly like Sherri!? Same body style, same legs ... same fighty-ness. At least she didn't bite her opponent. But really, Sherri, she looks exactly like you!

Also, I'm selling the movie uncut on DVD for $10. The money will be used to buy wrestling shoes for the poor girl. I now think that this information may be suspect because ...

I have an ulcer in my mouth. I did what my dad taught me. I took a shower. I ate something. I took a poop. None of this helped. I rubbed it hard with a wash rag. I still had to go to a dentist and they burned it with silver nitrate or something. I cried like a girl. I am a girl. It's a little better, but no thanks to my dad's cure-alls.

Now everything my parents said/say will be taken at face value. Not everything can be attributed to NERVES, mom! And, mom, if you wrote all of the Lassie shows, where's all the cash?

There's another political commercial that likens one of the ballot issues to wiping you ass with a cheese grater. I don't even know which ballot issue it is talking about because I can't stop cringing when they show the red-glowing cheese grater on the toilet paper hanger. AAAAH! I'll just guess on that one when I vote.

I've banned tag at work. I kept losing.

So, during last week's blizzard a tree fell on my van. More proof that God keeps me around for the comedy value.

And, last but not least ... only 3 more weeks of weight loss and I should be at my target weight. So, for $600 I learned to eat breakfast, stop eating by 7 p.m. and not to eat 8 choc. chip cookies before I go to sleep. Seems like I could have figured that out for free.

Political Genius ...

You heard it here first ...

President Bush, feeling backed into a corner politically lately, called on the former President and asked his advice. The local Business Journal has a story about it .

Battle brewing over Internet access
for blind Web surfers
In 1992, The Americans with Disabilities Act became law. The act provides "equal opportunity for individuals with disabilities in public accommodations, employment, transportation, state and local government services and telecommunications." But does the law apply to Web sites? At least one federal judge thinks it might, the National Federation of the Blind thinks it does, and at least one retail-giant, Target, thinks it doesn't.

The story goes on to say that a blind guy is mad because he thinks Target's website discriminates against blind people 'cause they can't use it. The NFB is taking the case to court and a judge heard the motion to dismiss but believes the case has merit.

So maybe the judge is smoking crack, too.

Are there websites that blind people do use? Couldn't he just get a friend to read him about what he wants to buy at Target? And even when he goes to the store, there aren't too many Braille labels out there, are there?

Maybe we should shut down the whole internet so this could be more fair to blind people or the computer illiterate.

We should wipe out music to be more sympathetic to deaf people.

Ridiculous.

A new love ...

So, I've been gone for a few days, but I needed time to reflect, to find myself. My blog seemed as though it was getting a bit negative, so I wanted to prance around the internet to see what everyone else was doing. And I found more about myself than I probably needed to know.

First, I am 43% geek. I'm less nerd and only a smidge dork. It kinda makes me normal since I'm not 50% or more of any of the three.

I have an IQ of 128. Jimmy's is higher, but I wasn't really trying and he was working his ass off.

If everyone lived like me we would need 3.8 more planets to sustain the population. I don't know where we would get 3.8 more planets, but I'm not worrying about it. I have a gun and it is always survival of the fittest anyway.

And I'm going to die when I'm 82.

I love the internet. I would have never know any of these things about myself were it not for the amazing world of cyberspace.

TV is now only a close second to my laptop and the internet. Pie crust is out. Plus, pie crust ruined my life and owes me the cost of this crazy diet (only 10 pounds left).

If Mohammed were alive today, what kind of car would he drive?

I'm not being funny ... this is the report Megan is supposed to write for her social studies class. So, what do you think?

I think the class is ridiculous and a waste of an hour of valuable school time. A week or so ago the class had to draw posters of ways to save the world from global warming. I can deal with that even though my thoughts on global warming are that many of the causes are natural and not man-made. The problem was that the teacher prefaced the project with "I didn't know what to believe about global warming until I saw Al Gore's movie."

I didn't believe in aliens until I saw Chicken Little. UGH!

This woman is a teacher!

Anyway, I think Mohammed would drive whatever he stole from Jesus. That's just my opinion.

Next subject --- I got a bra "professionally" fitted yesterday. I thought it would be a good idea since I've been losing weight. This tiny asian woman put 7 bras on me -- personally.

I guess it wouldn't have been weird if we weren't in the Olive Garden ladies room.

Not again ...

I've already shown I'm not a "typical" parent. When the monkeys were little, I just bought the toys I thought were cool and didn't worry too much about age restrictions. O.K., I'm not stoopid. I didn't buy a chemistry set for a 2 year old. I'm talking about the choking hazard stuff -- not suitable for children under 3 -- you know.

So, now that the youngest is 5 I shouldn't have to think about it at all anymore, right? Do you see where this is going?

Max got a pirate costume yesterday. Hat, sword, hook and eyepatch. I know you're thinking a sword for a nutjob isn't a good idea ... but it was the eyepatch that was the culprit.

He was fooling around and popped himself in the eye. There is a skull on the eyepatch with the teeth cut out and the patch poked in and scratched his eye. It happened at 10 a.m. He couldn't go to school. He laid in bed all day. He has yet to open his eyes. He's been blinded by the pirate custume not suitable for children under 3. Now I believe these toys should also come with an IQ test.

I'm joking because I left his side for 20 minutes yesterday afternoon. I came back in the room and the TV channel was changed to cartoons and he was "listening" to his favorite show. I'm sure he's a peeker, so he'll be fine today. It will be miraculous. Or we will go to the doctor. Jesus gave him money once, so I'm hoping for the former.

How much does mucus weigh?

So I am going to LA Weight Loss -- 8 weeks now. I started at 163. I am 5'4" so I was pretty tubby. I've only been in the 160s when I was pregnant. After 5 babies, I should have been better at it than I was, but I was miserable. I was gaining 1/2 pound a month no matter what I cut out of my diet -- no soda, no fast food, no sweets, no bread, hormone free meat, no trans fat, no high fructose corn syrup. I called my neurologist -- I have Multiple Sclerosis -- and asked him what I could do because when I exercise my hands and feet go numb. His answer? Get used to being heavier.

Not an option.

So now I'm 142.4 pounds. I have 9 more weeks of weight loss, then 6 weeks of stabilization, then 52 weeks of maintenance. My target weight is 124 to 129.

That's the background of the weight ... the background of the mucus is my son brought a cold home from kindergarden and now I feel 3 pounds heavier just in my sinus cavity. Do you think they will deduct a least 1 pound for mucus weight?

Don't wake me ...

My 6 year old, Jaybean, is a dreamer. It's hard for her to stay on track when doing any task. Homework takes her hours ... as does eating, walking, telling a story and anything done in the bathroom.

So, when I found out she missed recess because she isn't getting classwork done on time, I wanted to help her change. I first explained that "dawdling" isn't helpful and we have to focus more to get things done in a timely manner.

My husband and I sit with her doing homework and try to keep her moving along on track without dawdling. I push her through the morning routine at a regular pace, all the while reminding her not to dawdle. I reminde her as she goes into class not to dawdle while doing her work. I really felt I was making progress.

She went outside to talk with her Dad after about a week of my dawdle-pestering and said, "Dad, what's dawdling?"

On a totally separate note, Sara's bored of her millions of knitting projects, so now she's added this:

Also, here's a picture I wanted to share with the world and I would also like to mention that Beth is a v-pig.

Ain't Betha cute? Not because I don't like them, but because I think my county, city and state wastes my tax dollars (I'm not going to mention federal, but they are lousy at it too.).

Anyway, I want to run for county commissioner and feel I really wouldn't get the votes due to the tattoos. Maybe 'cause I'm a jerk, too, but they'd have to at least get to know me to know that. The tattoo thing is just a superficial stereotype ... one I accept and understand.

This November there is a ballot initiative about petitioning. The details don't really matter, but what matters is I've thought of a way to help local and state governments reign in all of the spenders in their little "house" and I want to put it out there In case a real politician is reading and wants to take credit for this idea. I'd rather it got into law under any name ...

"Nobody can ask for money or a spending increase without giving a proposal on how to save money or cut the budget first."

I got this idea when I was listening to a story about how people want/don't want a casino near the park at Gettysburg, PA. The National Park Service guy was saying that they only get about $650 million for a budget so they can't hire all of the park rangers they need. They would like a budget of $800 million.

Me too.

I guess it's not his job to say what pie slice they would steal that extra money ... defense? homeland security? transportation? What does he care? Everyone need to take the blinders off and see the whole pie.

So I reiterate ...

"Nobody can ask for money or a spending increase without giving a proposal on how to save money or cut the budget first."

Granted ... it must be my middle name

These are the needles that magically made it to my Watch-List on E-bay. Aparently I needed to buy these.

At 6 days out there were "only" $.99. It was a steal. I put my bid at $32. I took a guess at what a reasonable bid would be without research. Not a good idea 'cause I found them as "buy it now" for $26. I spent the week praying it wouldn't go over the $25 I should have topped my bid at.

Everyday she asks me if I checked the needles & did we win yet. Nary a word of who shall pay.

I did win the needles for $20 and some change. Then I paid. That's what I do. I am mis-taken for Granted all of the time. This is just one example.

I get list of things my kids need all of the time. I've gotten e-mails from a couple of them to remind me of cool things they "need." I did buy a money tree for the dining room. I don't think it's working yet.

On a side note ... Jesus Christ gave my son some pennies in a ziplock bag today at church. That's his story and he's stickin' to it. Bedtime revolves around my true love, TV. I used to be in love with pie crust but we had a falling out. Now I love TV.

Anyway, since this diet thing I've been doing for 8 weeks ( I'm down from 163 to 144) I've been waking up at 6:30 a.m. I thought at first it was crazy and would try to go back to sleep with no luck. Now I love it.

The kids sleep until at least 8 so I now have something I haven't had in years ... silence!

I get up and do my funny exercises that I learned from the internet. Who knows if I'm doing them right. One of my hips is roundish and one is flat/square, so I am probably off on something. But then I sit and eat breakfast alone with my laptop. I read about Big Brother 7. (I am ridiculous.) And I listen to nothing. No questions, no badgering, no whining. no begging.

Now the silent mornings are a close second to TV. But I'm not going to stop sending love e-mails to my cable company ... don't want to hurt their feelings.

Also, I love this guy.

That's the face he makes when we talk about how much I love TV.

My little 257 ...

I say that I have it better than an inmate because I have a bit more than 257 sq. feet to myself. (Inmates, I've heard get 100.) Anyway, 257 is what you get when you split up an 1,800 sq. foot ranch house with a husband and 5 monkeys. I didn't figure the 3 dogs into the equation because they like to go outside quite a bit. The cat didn't get in either because she lives mostly in the ceiling.

So, anyway, I've been on an organization kick to make better use of my 257. First was the pantry:

The light goes on when you open the door because I am a genius.

Then I did my bedroom closet and the basement area that I use for exercise (LOL).

As for the exercise, the concrete was rough, but then I remembered the flooring samples my brother-in-law gave me, so ....

he saved my butt.

My favorite spot in my 257, though, is the dining room. I'm still adding hub-bub, but it's getting better because e-bay is my friend.

I know, 4 seats for a family of 7 seems odd ... we eat in shifts. It's all about aesthetics.

Boys vs. girls

There has always been debate on whether boys are easier to raise than girls. My younger sister always voted for boys ... but she's not the genius of the family. I believe she just has more energy.

I, on the other hand, like to handle all issues from the couch. Girls let you do that. It's all cerebral ... what if this happened at school, what should I do about that ... and on, and on.

I thought I was pretty accomplished in the realm of parenting pre-son. Come on, I have four daughters who all managed to stay in tact through toddlerhood. They are reasonable children, not breaking anything of worth and being pretty respectful and doing well in school.

Then the boy.

With my son from ultra-early on I needed weapons to pelt him with from the couch to get him to stop touching my stuff. He broke his finger messing with stuff at around 2, burnt the basement carpet with an aquarium heater (we have no aquarium and I can't imagine where he got the heater) at about 2 as well. He was 3 when he said "Hulk smash" and threw a chair through our projection TV for $500 in damage. All of the basement walls are covered in crayon. He's only 5!

So, we made a deal. When he reaches a destruction level of $5,000 he has to get a job or move out. He's probably around $2,000 now. I keep him posted of his balance so he can plan. He wants to be a dinosaur when he grows up, but I don't know if that pays well --- it does fit in with his destruction habit, though.

So, who wins? Boys or girls?

I think it's the parents who stopped at one child.

You can never tell ...

Sara's my firstborn. I could have never guessed 19 years ago that this is where we would be. Granted she was born a Liberal to a staunch Republican (more on this later), but I was able to pull her slowly from the dark side as she grew.

I have 5 kids ranging in age from 5 to 19. The 5-year-old is the only boy. The odds of a "blacksheep" is more than 50/50. You see, my oldest is a nerd. She is in a family of tattooed freaks -- unmarked and knitting.

It's not just the knitting -- that was just the ultimate proof. She decided just 2 years ago to try to learn ... by herself ... from a book. And now she's making her own patterns and planning her life around fiber.

Knitting projects are all around. She only speaks in crazy knitting lingo. She wants a knitting job. She's traveling to New York from Colorado for a big knitting gala. She spends 90% of her money from child care on knitting hub-bub.

Sometimes she looks sad. I love her so I ask, "hey, what's up? Can I help." And then the can of worms. Discontinued yarn, miscalculated stitches, new and expensive yarn she NEEDS. And all of this is Greek to me. I try to be supportive, but I can only stare blankly. It's like listening to Charlie Brown's teacher.

So, I saved her from a life on the left only to lose her to life lost in the abyss of fiber and needles. And you can't tell me it's not an abyss ... just look at her aunt's sewing room at my sister's blog.
